Guess you didnt take into account the fact that people building missiles (most of them) have maxed skills in manufacturing that allows them to use perfect quantity of minerals thus you're better off buying them from the market than wasting mineral...

No, there is no "Set formation to Wing, X, Wall". You do this manually.. I mean.. every player has to move in the desired position. It depends on the abilites of the Fleet Commander.
